Hoeveel tandpasta verspillen we eigenlijk?

How much toothpaste do we actually waste?

We waste more toothpaste than we think.

On average, we use about 12 tubes of toothpaste per person per year. Doesn't sound bad. Until you realize that we throw away about 12 brushings from each tube. Not because we're messy, but because a tube simply doesn't empty completely, even if you cut it open.

Add that up, and we flush an Olympic swimming pool full of toothpaste down the drain annually. A waste. Unnecessary.

Too much is really too much

Additionally, we consistently use more than the recommended 1 milliliter per brushing. Not because it cleans better, but because we're used to it and squeezing knows no bounds. More foam might feel fresh, but it also means: more raw materials, more waste, more extravagance.

How much is 1 ml of toothpaste

1ml is approximately the size of a pea. A cooked grain of rice or risotto-sized amount of ReBloom Care toothpaste is also sufficient for good cleaning.

What does science say?

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences investigated the difference between traditional toothpaste tubes and ReBloom Care refill packages.
The outcome is clear:

  • 4 toothpaste tubes together leave ±48 ml of toothpaste in the tube.
  • One ReBloom refill package (240 ml) leaves only ±1.2 ml. With this one refill package, you replace four tubes of toothpaste.

That's not a subtle difference. That's a system flaw that you can easily fix.

Dosing is the key

ReBloom Care uses a glass bottle with a pump.
Not for show, but for more control.
No mess. No squeezing stress. Much less waste.

And when it's empty?
Then you refill it with a 240 ml refill package.
Replaces about 4 tubes, without all the plastic waste.

Stop squeezing.
Start pumping.
